Preventative Care

Heartland Veterinary Clinic provides a full range of preventative care services to help your pet live a longer, happier life and to increase the odds of detecting problems before signs appear and before they become severe and costly. The earlier potential issues are detected, the more favorable the outcome.

Dr. Sanborn makes his annual preventative care recommendations based on the guidelines established by the American Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association. Our team then customizes his recommendations based on your pet’s hereditary factors, age, medical history, and lifestyle. After discussing your pet’s needs, we will customize a preventative health care plan, including a comprehensive physical examination, nutritional recommendations, flea and tick treatments, heartworm preventative medication, intestinal parasite screening and control, vaccination schedule, and specialized blood tests based on life stage, including annual heartworm testing, and other basic pet care products.
