SET can accomplish Nondestructive examination and testing (NDE) services at the laboratory, in the fabrication plant, or on the construction site. Our technical resources are certified in the tasks they perform and undergo an ongoing training program to ensure their proficiency.

NDE services include:

Cobalt 60 and Iridium 192 radioactive isotopes give us comprehensive inspection capabilities. Along with portable darkrooms our resources can x-ray up to the equivalent of 9 inches of steel and can develop the film on-site for immediate results, thus following the client the ability to make timely and accurate decisions.

Ultrasonic Inspection

State-of-the-art portable flaw detectors will be used. This equipment allows inspection on-site as well as in a shop with immediate results provided to the client and with a wide variety of transducers (straight beam, shear wave, and surface wave). Inspect welds, casting, plate steel, or any other item that lends itself to ultrasonic inspection.

Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

MT is used for ferromagnetic materials (anything that sticks to a magnet) and will detect both surface and slightly sub-surface defects. Portable equipment is used for on-site inspection.

Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)

Because of the simplicity of penetrant application, PT is a rapid and economical process for testing large numbers of units versus testing each part one at a time. It can be used on a wide range of non-porous materials, from metals to composites but in-shop or on-site with the same quality results.

Visual Inspection

All visual inspection is performed by technicians who are proficient in the use of inspection aids including video cameras, video probes, fiberscopes, borescopes, and robotics. Many of the technicians are ICC, AWS-CWI, and API 510, 570, 653 certified.

Welder Procedure/Welder Performance Certification

These services may be provided in your fabrication facility or on the construction site as required.
