Behavioral Healthcare

SGMC Dogwood Senior Behavioral Health specializes in geriatric psychiatric care, providing tailored support for adults aged 55 and older. Our secure 12-bed facility is equipped to address a range of mental health conditions, including dementia with behavioral changes, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance abuse, suicidal ideations, grief, and more.

Our dedicated team of medical professionals, including a psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, social worker, activity coordinator, and nurses, collaborate to create personalized treatment plans. These plans may include comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations, individual and group therapy, activity therapy groups, medication management, and education. We also offer assistance with long-term placement, if necessary, and referrals for community services.

At SGMC Dogwood, we place a strong emphasis on family involvement. Family members are encouraged to participate in weekly treatment team meetings to discuss the patient’s progress. Referrals can be made by family members or any medical professional. To initiate a referral, please call 229.433.8680. Our admissions nurse will guide you through the process after the referral is reviewed by our Psychiatric Director.

Please note that SGMC Dogwood Senior Behavioral Health does not accept involuntary admissions. Patients must be willing to accept treatment. For faxed referrals, please use 229-433-8780. Your loved one's well-being is our priority, and we're here to provide the compassionate care they deserve.
